What does the bible say about pride? This is one of the most important topic for the which most churches have no knowledge about and very few preachers speak about. You only have to make even a you tube search . A place where there should be hundreds of videos on the topic.
Yet it is even hard to find a good sermon about pride verses in the bible . Why is it so? It is very likely that Satan who has started all this incredible problem we are going through on earth has blinded the eyes of most people about the real reason why it all started ? It was because of pride. Let us look at pride verses in the bible
Why is pride wrong?
Why is pride wrong ? It is because one is stealing from God and lying to God and others about his own condition . Pride is an illusion. Nobody has received or is anything unless God give sit to that person . Yet someone can believe that yet deep down still believe they do things themselves without God . And when they succeed then they believe they did it themselves.
1 CO 4 7 6 Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be [c]puffed up on behalf of one against the other. 7 For who [d]makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
Pride verses in the bible let us look at a few more . But Jesus says plainly that we cannot do anything without Him . Why would people and even Christians still believe they can do something and when they succeed they give gory to themselves when the bible says it is lying to God to say such a thing .
JN 15 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

It is so offensive to God when someone takes credit to themselves of what God does through them that when did so . The judgment of God fell instantly .
AC 12 21 So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. 22 And the people kept shouting, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” 23 Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. The sins that a person commits when they are proud is lying to stealing . Only God deserves the glory for what He does . It is robbing God of the glory that belongs to Him to be proud. It is lying to say i did something when in fact God did it . Let us learn more pride verses in the bible

LE 26 19 I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.
God can curse people or nations who are proud . As the goal of God s creation is to have people like God . God is truth and people who go contrary to the purpose of Gods creation , they are rebelling against God and his government.
Can someone be proud and be a Christian?
This i what we see everywhere in many churches. People who claim to be Christians and followers of Jesus . They have the name Christian , yet their works deny their profession . In their works they show that they are children of the Evil one . This is the great problem of the ages. This has been Jesus message in all the gospels and the bible . A message little preached and taught . It is not the profession that matters. It is the character. Many non Christians show better fruits than Christians .
Is God going to accept the name ? Or does God accept who the person is . We live in a world where many people judge by someone s profession . Many people judge someone character also by what other people are saying about this person. What we will bring to heaven is who we are much more than what we do . Yet many Christians are spending all their time in seeking to avoid doing things instead of being what God wants us to be by righteousness by faith.
The pride verses in the bible tell us that we need to be aware of what sin is . Instead of being only outward acts, sin is much more who we are . Are we selfish, arrogant, unloving, unkind, dishonest, proud, arrogant, deceptive. Then this cannot enter heaven. Jesus us meek and lowly . Nobody contrary to Jesus character can enter heaven . We either resemble Jesus or Satan . There is no middle ground .
MT 5 5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the [a]earth
Only the humble can enter heaven , it is not the profession and claiming to be a Christian it is to be like Jesus.
MT 11 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am [f]gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
How can we know that the proud will not enter heaven ? Amazing pride verses in the bible
MA 4 “For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,” Says the Lord of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves. 3 You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this,” Says the Lord of hosts.
The proud and the wicked
It is interesting to see that the word proud is often used in conjunction with the wicked. This is a stunning fact as for most people wicked people are bad but the proud are ok . The bible says no . A proud person is a wicked person it is the same thing . The goal of life is to give glory to God . The angels spend all their time to give God the glory . The pride verses in the bible tell us that doing any other than giving God the glory is to become a servant of sin and Satan .
Satans government is to worship oneself. This is to be wicked. And many other sins follow pride. When one wants to glorify themselves, then they also will be selfish and not love others. Then they will also lie to benefit oneself and will not stop there they will rob others because all the benefit and glory is to oneself. Many sins follow pride.
Pride never comes along by itself. In the pride verses in the bible we find out that Saul s pride got him to be so selfish and offended not to get the first place and the glory that he wanted to eliminate David. Selfishness and pride can go that far. And it is stunning to see that this message is not going all over the churches and the world. Pride is the basis of all sins . When one is proud he will also not be honest. Then we have a real problem as when one is not honest, then they will destroy the basis of Christianity which is honesty and humility .
2 CO 32 26 Then Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
God can turn away his judgments when He sees that people realize the offence of trying to worship oneself instead of God . The bible is plain there is only one God.
JOB 40 12 Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low; Tread down the wicked in their place.
Nobody in heaven will be proud , worshipping oneself instead of God . As God gives all things.
PR 21 4 A haughty look, a proud heart, And the ploughing of the wicked are sin.
The proud and the wicked is the same group they cannot enter heaven as they did not realize that all things come from God . Like an ungrateful son who never gives thanks to his parents but thinks that he deserves all that he has and it comes because of his good looks or personality . All things comes from God .
Pride, righteousness by faith and legalism
IS 13 11 “I will punish the world for its evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
This is like a concentrate of all sins . God enumerates two, the wicked and the proud .
MA 3 15 So now we call the proud blessed, For those who do wickedness are raised up; They even tempt God and go free.’ ”
This verse explains the situation in our world today . In and out of churches. People do not know what sin is . Churches only teach that sin is outward acts. They totally miss that sin is who we are ; We carry sin in ourselves. Here we see another manifestation of sin . Legalism . Many religious people think that they are good. This is pride. Nobody is good, but when one thinks to be good then they are lost and offend God .
Here too they do not see their own condition . They are blind to who they are . They are partial and only look at some of the good works they do and are blind to the many defects in their character which will shun heaven to them unless God works a transformation in their hearts. Legalism is thinking that one is good. While one believes this they are lost and are not a Christian nor converted. Yet this is the condition of most of the Christian world.
PS 10 2 The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.
The wicked men is a proud men it is the same thing . A proud person well do anything they can to benefit oneself. Lying, selfishness. Then selfishness goes with no love . Deception and lying to get ones way .
PS 59 12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips, Let them even be taken in their pride, And for the cursing and lying which they speak.
PS 75 5 Therefore pride serves as their necklace; Violence covers them like a garment.
All kinds of sins follow pride . The humble recognizes there is nothing good in him and realizes that unless he asks God for his righteousness then there cannot be any good intent in the heart apart from God .
PR 8 13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.
What are the sins that synonymous in this verse ? Pride, evil, arrogance. Interesting here the bible goes further and tells us that someone who is proud is also an evil person . Quit incredible study of the bible don t you think?
PR 11 2 When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.
Usually when proud people talk we do not learn anything . The humble are often given wisdom from God . When they speak we learn a lot .
PR 13 10 By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom.
Al fights and contention comes from one person or one nation thinking that they are better than the other person , and they start abusing this person who in their mind they believe to be less than them . When in fact in the bible it never gives any hierarchy on who deserves respect or not . We can conclude also that a proud person is not spiritual . Because this hierarchy of who deserve respect comes from an imaginary rules, and wordly standards.
PR 29 13 A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor.
The proud will be exalted in this society as this is what is praised . And this person can succeed faster, yet in the long run God Wil bring that person low as they got success from lying and stealing from God. It is sad to see so many people believe the proud, when they speak and claim to be something instead of giving God the glory .
