Galatians chapter 3 summary
This is a very important chapter as it talks about righteousness by faith . This is the most important topic in the bible . As many people claim to know Jesus, Many people claim to be Christians yet they still try to gain heaven with their works . In Galatians chapter 3 summary it says that some and many Christians still believe that their works will gain them an entrance in heaven .
Many non Christians are also legalists, they think that following rules can have someone go to heaven . Galatians chapter 3 summary it says we need to obey Gods law. But we cannot obey the 10 commandments unless God gives us power. What is this power called ? Who gives this power ? Where can i get this power for myself ? Let us find out
GA 3 1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Keeping the law to be saved and believing that one is saved by works is so strong in Paul s language who was led and inspired by the Holy Spirit to write the book of Galatians that Paul says someone who is a Christian but is trying to be saved by works is disobedient to the truth . They can obey all the rules of the bible, yet if they deeply believe that their works is enough for salvation, they are totally disobedient to the truth and the bible .
We see here that the most important topic for the which we can only give a little here is righteousness by faith . In Galatians chapter 3 summary it says that Jesus was evidently crucified . When someone tries to be be saved by works, they deny the cross of Jesus . As if someone's works would be enough, then there would be no need of Jesus dying on the cross. The death of Jesus on the cross is absolute proof that we cannot be saved by works. If it was so, then Jesus would not have needed to die on the cross. Because we cannot save ourselves, and really our works are just for the intent that we love Jesus . Then we cannot bring works to receive salvation.
GA 3 2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Can the Holy Spirit be given by working ? No It is a little an abomination that one thinks that by working they gain salvation and receive the Holy Spirit . The pagans used to believe that, and we see many Christians still believe in paganism teachings. How offensive to God to think that our works gain an entrance to heaven, when our works are done with the intention to love Jesus .
In Galatians chapter 3 summary it says that the intention is everything . Do you do works to be saved, or because you are already saved and you want to show Jesus you love Him ? Even there we see that God does the works through us .
GA 3 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Some Christians in Galatia heard the preaching by faith .
But sometimes in churches we have preachers that preach works to be saved . And after listening to those sermons over and over and start to believe this false message and the church is corrupted with legalism .
People who still believe there is something good in human beings will rely on the flesh as Paul says . The flesh is much about thinking one to be good and being proud . As this salvation by works message is preached in many churches, what happens is that many that are not settled in the truth of righteousness by faith become legalists and the church is corrupted.
GA 4 4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
GA 3 5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Legalism thinks so highly of men that one can believe that they can do miracles without God .
That men has enough power to save himself and do miracles. Some people believe both at the same time which is still a false gospel . Some say we are saved by faith, yet believe they have to do one part themselves. We are saved by faith without the works of the law. The works, loving God and others are done because and with the intention of loving God and others.
GA 3 6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Abraham was received by God because he believed that he was saved by faith . And God accepted his faith before Abraham went out of his country to where God told him to go . Faith will have works, but the works are done by God and automatic once we receive this power called righteousness by faith .
As we do not have any righteousness in ourselves. This is where we need to realize that only God is righteousness . Unless we realize this, we will not receive righteousness from God . As while we still cling to our works and our own righteousness, then we cannot receive Gods righteousness. We need first to realize our own nothingness. Then we need to ask God everyday to give us his righteousness.
GA 3 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
We see here that the bible says in Galatians chapter 3 summary, that one part of the church is of faith, one part of the church is of the works. Can the works side of the church go to heaven ? No the bible says that we cannot save ourselves. Only trusting in the merits of Jesus can we be saved. As our works are polluted and unworthy .
But can a Christian who believes in Jesus yet says they are saved by works go to heaven ? No as they trusted in themselves and not in God . They thought their works would bring salvation and as long as they did the good works they would be saved. No this is a deception . Who we are is much more important that what we do . Who we are is what will make it to heaven . Our love, kindness ; forgiveness, humility, sincerity, loyalty . This will enter heaven . A wicked pperson can do good works, yet his character can be marred with many flaws.
GA 3 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
All people from all nations will be saved that are of faith . I also believe that all people who are lead by the Holy Spirit will make it to heaven , who follow that still small voice, saying this is the way walk you in it . All those who do things for God and others without asking anything in return are from God .
GA 3 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
There is a blessing in this life for those who give God all the glory ans know that only God has the power to give righteousness by faith . They work are made in Gods power for love of others and God . Their works are not tainted with selfishness to expect something in return, or expect salvation in exchange for their works .
